Person Centered Therapy (PCT) 

 

This type of therapy diverged from the traditional model of the therapist as expert and moved instead toward a nondirective, empathic approach that empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process. 

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy 

This emphasizes an analysis of the psychological forces underlying feelings and emotions and how they might relate to early experience.

Systemic Therapy 
Focuses on relationships between a group of people, rather than on the individual - utilized in couples or family therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)  
This approach encourages people to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them.  

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
 
CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. You're shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.

Psychoanalysis 
Based on the theory that our present is shaped by our past - personal experiences can influence our mood and behavior

Jungian Analysis  
At its fundamental level, Jungian psychotherapy, also referred to as Jungian analysis, is a thorough, analytical approach to talk therapy that seeks to bring balance and union between the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind. 

Music Therapy  

​I have taught, played and sang music for many years. I employ music therapy with specific clients. Research in neuroscience has shown that music can influence brain chemistry by releasing dopamine, the pleasure hormone, and reducing cortisol, the stress hormone. These biochemical responses help to explain the therapeutic effects of music therapy on mood regulation and stress reduction. 

My approach is Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy.

This involves combining a number of therapeutic strands.

The differing elements can be used interactively or separately to suit individual client needs. 

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY 

Personalised treatment: 1:1 therapy allows for customised treatment plans tailored to your individual needs, goals, and preferences. I will adjust my approach and techniques as needed, to ensure the most effective care possible. 

 

COUPLES THERAPY 

The average couple who have participated in therapy are in a more positive place at the end of sessions than 70%–80% of couples who have not received treatment—an improvement rate that rivals or exceeds the most effective psychosocial and pharmacological interventions for individual mental health disorders. 

 

FAMILY THERAPY 

​​​Family therapy can help the family as a whole recover and heal. It can help all members of the family make specific, positive changes as the person in recovery changes. These changes can help all family members heal from the trauma of mental illness, related familial issues, loss and addiction. 

 

I also offer online Therapy when it is preferable for clients to take this option.
